Craftsmen
Limousine
Company History
Craftsmen Limousine was started from ground zero on January 1,
1989 by Robert J. and Robert M. (Marc) Haswell; Father and Son. The
concept has always been to provide a business where people who want it
their way don't have to take model A, B, or C. We have always built all
the parts, that make up a limousine, by hand. Everything is fit to the
application. Our goal has always been to build the finest limousine
available.
By being custom builders, on customer supplied base units, we have been
asked to do very unique work. In fact the first dual axle we built came to
us in three pieces. The front half of an 89 Lincoln Town Car, and two back
half's. We have built many Lincolns, and Cadillacs, but also many cars
that had never had limousines built on them before. We built the first
Lexus in 1990, stretching it 93" in the middle. Shortly after this we
built a 57 Chevrolet with a 120" stretch. Others we have stretched
are Rolls Royce Silver Shadows, Spurs, Mercedes and a Jaguar presently
parked in the Al Alaharam Palace. Our first GMC Suburbans were for a Princess in Saudi Arabia. these were
equipped with raised roofs, mirrored ceilings, recliner seats,
refrigerator, coffee maker, sink, and water tank. To enable her to see
what was transpiring outside we put in closed circuit TV monitors front and back. Another unique limousine was built for a princess who was
disabled with arthritis. Getting into any automobile was very painful. We
stretched a Cadillac 75" and put a special door on the side through
which the special seat we installed for her would turn and come outside
the limousine enabling her to simply rise from her wheelchair, turn and
sit. the chair then pulled her back into the limousine, and turned to face
the front. The interiors of our limousines have always been extremely tasteful. We
use solid walnut lumber for our wood work. This wood is fashioned into a
piece of furniture, and finished with 8 coats of automobile clear coat.
This gives a hard protective finish. Our carpet is commercial grade, our
headliner is velour.Because of the unique requests of our customers, we have been led into
areas not previously encountered in the limousine industry.
"Necessity is the mother of invention", they say. Because of
this Craftsmen has led the industry with the following first time
applications in limousines: TVs mounted in the front post, not in the bar
(1990) Mirrored ceilings (1990). With Fiber-Optic stars (1994) Reduced
side seats, providing more head room (1990) Side reflective Fiber-Optics (1993) Dual-Axle limousines with quad air bag rear springs (1991)
Dual-Axle limousines with added slave rear breaking system (1993) (this
makes our dual axles stop from 60 mph to 0 in less than 250' fully loaded)
Dual alternators supplying electric supply separately to the automobile and the limousine stretch (1996) (These can be bridged in emergency to get
you home).
We believe the world is starving for business people who are honest,
and serve their customers with integrity. This is our goal.
